Making Tax Digital just gave your tax year four deadlines. Here's the habit that makes them boring.
If you're a UK sole trader over the MTD threshold, quarterly updates
are now the law — 7 August, 7 November, 7 February, 7 May, every year. The MTD
Ready Kit is the record-keeping system that means each one takes minutes,
not a lost weekend.

£29 + VAT
One-off. VAT added at checkout (Gumroad, the merchant of record, adds UK VAT — total ≈ £34.80). Instant download. Updated for each tax year of this edition free. 14-day no-questions refund.
At checkout you'll be asked to tick a box agreeing to immediate
delivery: “I agree to immediate delivery of this digital content and
acknowledge that I lose my 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts
Regulations 2013.” Our own 14-day refund policy applies anyway — see below.
What's inside
The MTD quarterly cycle checklist — the four deadlines, what a
quarterly update actually contains (and what it isn't), and the
week/month/quarter rhythm that keeps you permanently ready.
MTD readiness checklist — the 2026/27/28 phase-in table in plain
English, and exactly what to sort out whichever side of the threshold you're on.
The Ops Workbook (Excel / Google Sheets compatible) — the digital
record-keeping habit itself: invoice tracker with overdue flags, expense log
with category totals, rolling 12-month VAT-threshold monitor, mileage log at
the approved 45p/25p rates. Your quarter-end numbers, always ready.
Self Assessment prep checklist — the final declaration still
exists; this keeps 31 January boring too.
The 30-minute weekly routine — the engine behind all of it.
Bonus: late-payment chaser templates — three emails, friendly
nudge to statutory-interest notice, because cashflow is admin too.
Honest limits — read before buying
This kit is not MTD software and not tax advice, and it does not
submit anything to HMRC. You'll still need MTD-compatible software (there are
free options — gov.uk lists them, and we point you there). What the free
software doesn't give you is the record-keeping habit that means there's
something accurate in it each quarter. That habit layer is what this kit is —
and if that's not what you need, don't buy it.
Who it's for
UK sole traders in (or heading into) MTD for Income Tax — mandatory over
£50,000 gross from April 2026, £30,000 from 2027, £20,000 from 2028 — who do
their own admin. If your accountant runs everything for you already, ask them
first; this may duplicate what you're paying them for.
Refunds
14 days, no questions asked — regardless of the immediate-download waiver you
accept at checkout. Faulty or not-as-described content is covered beyond 14 days
under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Refunds are processed by our checkout
provider (Gumroad), who act as merchant of record for the sale.
Questions
Does this submit my quarterly updates?
No — submission needs MTD-compatible software (free options exist; the kit
links gov.uk's list). This kit is the record-keeping system that means the
numbers are ready when the software asks.
I'm under the threshold — is this pointless?
The threshold drops to £30k in 2027 and £20k in 2028, and the habits are
the same ones that make ordinary Self Assessment painless. But if you want
it purely for MTD and you're years away, you may not need it yet — that's
an honest answer.
What format are the files?
A ZIP with .xlsx (Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers), PDFs, and editable versions of the checklists.
Is this a subscription?
No. One-off purchase; tax-year updates to this edition are free.
