Zoho Books is cloud bookkeeping and invoicing software — quotes, invoices, bank reconciliation, expenses and reports — and part of the wider Zoho suite (CRM, Mail, Expense, Inventory). For UK users it positions itself as an affordable, self-serve option with a genuinely free entry tier. It suits cost-conscious sole traders and small teams who want to do their own books, like clear self-service pricing, and may later bolt on other Zoho apps. It suits you less if you need deep UK payroll or you specifically want the tool most UK accountants already use.

Pricing: the free tier reality + the paid ladder

• Free plan — real, not a trial. Zoho offers a genuinely free tier (aimed at the smallest businesses), which is rare among the big providers. It carries limits (transaction volume, users, features) that push you to a paid plan as you grow — check today's caps.

• Free-tier ceilings. The free plan's limits can force an upgrade sooner than you expect as volumes rise.
