Terms of Use

Last updated: 2026-08-21

This page describes how the site actually works, in plain English. It is not legal, financial, or tax advice.

These are the terms for using trycashpilot.com and rates.trycashpilot.com, run by Max Lloyd, a UK sole trader. They are written in plain English on purpose.

What this site is

CashPilot publishes guides, comparisons and free calculators about UK tax admin and accounting software, and sells a digital record-keeping workbook (the MTD Ready Kit). The rates site publishes reference data about official UK figures. All of it is educational information, not advice.

Not advice

Nothing on these sites is financial, legal, tax or accounting advice. We work hard to keep figures accurate, dated and linked to their official sources, but rules change and your situation is your own. Always verify against GOV.UK or the linked official source, and speak to a qualified professional about decisions that matter. If a figure here and an official source ever disagree, the official source is right and we will correct ours fast.

The calculators

The free tools run in your browser, store nothing on our servers, and give estimates based on published rates and thresholds. They are a starting point, not a determination of your position.

The MTD Ready Kit

The kit is a digital product sold through Gumroad under Gumroad's terms of sale. It is a record-keeping workbook and habit system: it does not submit anything to HMRC and it is not tax advice, and we say so prominently before you buy. It comes with a 14-day no-questions refund: email max@trycashpilot.com or request through Gumroad.

Affiliate links

Some links are affiliate links, always disclosed. If you buy through one we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. It does not change what we recommend. See the Affiliate Disclosure page.

Using our content

You are welcome to quote our pages and figures with attribution and a link. The rates dataset is republished public sector information under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Do not copy whole pages or the workbook for redistribution or resale.

No guarantees, limited liability

The sites are provided as they are. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and to the extent the law allows we are not liable for losses arising from reliance on free informational content. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under UK law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected, including in relation to kit purchases.

Changes and contact

If these terms change, the date above changes with them. Questions: max@trycashpilot.com. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
